Total Time: 30 mins
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 250 g Dessicated Coconut
  • 200 g Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Clarified Butter (Commonly Known as Ghee)
  • 2 tsp Milk
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder (For Garnishing)
  • 2 tbsp Milk (For Giving Moisture to the Coconut Barfi)
Instructions
To Prepare the Sugar Mixture for the Barfi:
  1. In a deep bottom pan or kadhai, add water and then Sugar, Cardamom Powder, and bring it to a boil.
  2. When it comes to a boil, add milk to it. ( In this, we have added milk to remove the impurities from the sugar syrup). So when we add the milk, a grey color layer forms on the sugar syrup; these are impurities. Remove them with the help of a spoon.
  3. Your Sugar Syrup for Coconut Barfi starts getting ready.
  4. Cook till it forms 1.5 thread of syrup in between your fingers. For this, we need to cook the sugar syrup for 10-15 minutes and check between our fingers that 1.5 thread is forming or not. If not, we need to cook for some more time.
  5. Check that the thread formed in between your fingers is 1.5 once more.
  6. Add desiccated coconut into the sugar syrup and mix it all well. Switch off the flame. You can add a little bit of milk if the mixture is dry.
  7. For the Final Dish:
  8. Take a plate and grease it with some ghee on it and keep it aside. We need to add the prepared coconut mixture to it later on.
  9. Spread it evenly on the plate and press it with the back of a greased steel bowl.
  10. Let it rest for 5 minutes and later cut it into barfi shapes by applying little ghee to the knife.
  11. Sprinkle the cardamom powder on it and afterward store it in an airtight container.
